I promise this piece will supply you with encouragement, create a paradigm shift, and provide you clear direction.
First, I need to start explaining three important concepts or thought processes. Please read each one of these concepts slowly, take your time, and think about them before you continue reading.
The 1st concept... Each occupation has its own "world." Its own buzz words, quirks, conventions, tools, inside scoop, magazines, websites, equipment, etc. You name any business, sport, or hobby, and I will tell you that it has its own world.
Tennis, soccer, karate, bowling, real estate, insurance, magicians, crafts, beauty pageants, body building, it doesn't matter what hobby, industry, or sport you might name, each one of them has its own "world." Their own magazines, conventions, web sites, and so on.
Network marketing has its own world as well.
Stay with me; I am really going somewhere, but the concept of each business having its own world really has to sink in. The second concept is that each of these worlds has its own recognized gurus. Names that are known throughout their specific sport, hobby, or business.
The 3rd concept is really an opinion, or quote, which I feel is becoming more evident every day.
In my online MLMHelp newsletter for Jan. 1989, I made the following statement: "The network marketing industry will go through more change over the next five years than the previous fifty combined, the Internet will lead that change."
I've told you all of that to ask this question: Why has it failed to work? Why, at current, have no companies been able to successfully combine the traditional network marketing and the Internet with a long term, stable income?
I believe the answer is this...
Network marketers have been attempting to conduct network marketing on the Internet. We should be doing Internet marketing to promote our network marketing businesses.
Re-read the statement above, letting it sink in.
We need to be studying successful Internet marketers, learning of the techniques they use that are effective, and determining how we can apply those methods to develop our network marketing businesses.
If you stop to think about it momentarily, this is a rather profound concept. If I have been employed in the insurance business for 25 years, then I begin being involved in the real estate industry, I definitely can't expect to sell office buildings or homes the same way I was marketing insurance policies.
We cannot conduct network marketing on the Internet. It is of importance to learn from the gurus of Internet Marketing first...We should learn about what has been proven to work, then use these techniques to promote our network marketing businesses.
Understanding how to carry out Internet marketing first is of importance, as we can't expect all the methods which have worked offline for 30 years to be effective on the internet, just because we would like them to.
Have you attended any seminars regarding Internet marketing? I'm not talking about the XYZ Mall organizations which have visited nearly every town in the last couple years (I've also been to all of them). I'm speaking of a true Internet marketing seminar, taught by a person who is earning $200,000 or more each year on the Internet. I have been to three of them in the past eighteen months, and they're quite an event. They made me believe that it is truly possible to tap in to the Internet Marketing "World".
I firmly believe in the importance of the concept of modeling. If you desire to become successful, find a person who is doing as you want to do and follow all which they teach, even if you do not understand all of it. Most importantly, do not have an original thought for at least a couple years.
"A wise man learns from his own mistakes, but a really wise man learns from the mistakes of others." An experienced guru can decrease your learning curve by years.
I have spent time with all the top Internet minds in the world over the last two years, and I have tapped into their "world." These seminars have been expensive; I have spent nearly $50000 dollars, but has it been worth it?
Absolutely, without question! I just want to encourage people involved in the network marketing business that the best is still to come. Traditional network marketing, personal development, and building relationships will always remain as the backbone of our industry.
There are certain principles, concepts, and laws that govern this industry. They have not changed in fifty years, and they won't change 50 years from today. The truth is truth, and laws of the universe are laws of the universe. Laws will not change, but methods do!
We need to learn the methods which are effective on the Internet and apply them to our network marketing businesses. Network marketers who take the time to become self-educated now will gain great rewards in the years to come.
Learn, develop, grow, have fun, and realize that the best for our industry is still yet to come!
